Well, today was nothing short of amazing, for sure! And while we have a great story to share, we will wait until we have a picture to go along with it....should be tomorrow! And she....I mean the story will be well worth waiting for! :)
We all slept fairly well...considering that are body clocks are completely off right now. We enjoyed some great quiet time and fellowship this morning and got to meet the director in person. What an awesome person he is.....the vision that he has for this children's village is awesome and I know that God is going to continue to bless the work they are doing here.
Since today is officially a holiday (the mid Autumn Festival here) and there is little staff here right now, Leah thought it best to do a day of our touring. We started off at Tianenman Square and its massive size just is almost overwhelming. This square will actually hold a million people....and at times, it felt like they were all there today! After that, we headed across the street to the Emperor's Palace. Everyone agreed that it was just unbelievable to see it all up close and personal. We then hiked (and I mean alotta stairs!) up to the top of this mountain (OK, maybe a hill) to see this pagoda. And sadly....it was a place where others worship a shrine. We spent a little time there and it was hard to get my mind off thinking why all the other people had come to that place.
We shopped till we dropped and then came back to the compound. We got to interact with lots of the kiddos today and although not for long, it was so fun! They just loved having us around and didn't even like the thought of having to be put down. I think about all their lives.......and how each one has a very special and unique story of how they have arrived here at this place. And more importantly how God has amazing things planned for each of them. The little girl that our family sponsors actually got matched with a family so we know He is at work and answering prayers!
We will post more pictures tomorrow (kiddos included) as we have our first full day of serving here tomorrow! And we cannot wait! Thanks for your continued prayers!
